The collection, launched in response to consumer demand, is comprised of 17 unique Diwali Cards, all crowd-sourced from Minted’s International Celebration Challenge and voted on by thousands of consumers.
“Being an international company with designers all over the globe makes helping every ethnicity celebrate their cultural traditions a natural next step for Minted,” says Minted CEO and founder Mariam Naficy. “We’re very excited to join in the celebration of light this year with our gorgeous Diwali designs created just for this beautiful holiday.”
Minted designer Kimberly Morgan’s “Tree of Life” took first place, as voted by thousands of customers, designers, and stationery lovers around the world. “I was not at all familiar with Diwali before, so it was very fun to have an opportunity to learn about it for this challenge,” says Morgan. “My Tree of Life design was inspired by a beautiful vintage tapestry I found while researching Indian art. It was a great challenge and I loved working with such vibrant, intense colors.”
Minted designer Hailey Myziuk of Hello Hailey’s Star Rangoli took second place and also received the guest judge’s award from Kaamna Bhojwani-Dhawan, the founder of Momaboard.com. “Designing for Diwali was a great opportunity to research and learn more about the meaning of the festival, and it’s visual representation throughout the world,” says Myziuk. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to Minted’s Diwali collection, and excited to share my new international designs with all of my friends!”
Lotus of Lights by Minted designer Jody Worthington of Jody Wody placed third. “After a bit of research, I felt drawn to Diwali’s emphasis on light, the lotus flower, Rangolis, and bright, warm colors,” says Worthington. “I wanted to include a bit of all of these elements in my design, while preserving white space and a clean layout. So, after some sketches and about a million revisions, I created a simple lotus Rangoli with a texture of ‘lights’ inside.”
